FAA today will publish updated guidance for Air Carrier
Maintenance Programs, which represents a major revision of earlier guidance
issued in 1980. It outlines nine elements of maintenance programs —
airworthiness responsibility, maintenance manuals, maintenance
organization, maintenance schedules, record-keeping, accomplishing and
approving maintenance and operations, contract maintenance, continuing
analysis and surveillance systems and personnel training. FAA said the
guidance applies to Part 119, Part 121 and Part 135 carriers, and explains
the agency’s regulatory requirements for those programs. Electronic and
downloadable copies are available in the Advisory Circular section of FAA’s
web site at http://www.faa.gov/ under AC
120-16D. –LR
